Stakeholders

Shape the AWARE method with us.

AWARE is developed together with the people who will use it. Water utilities, companies, public authorities, researchers and communities take part from the start: they help define the method, suggest additional study cases and test the tools. Whatever your role in the water sector, there is a way to take part.

Who we want in the network

  • Practitioners and consultants

Professionals who carry out sustainability assessments. Help us shape the method, test it on real cases and join the training sessions.

  • Water utilities

Public or private operators of water treatment, distribution, wastewater treatment and resource recovery. Offer your scheme as a study case and build in-house skills in the AWARE method.

  • Private sector and industry

Companies in agriculture, manufacturing and energy with water use and sustainability concerns. Find out how water reuse affects your costs, your environmental footprint and your stakeholders.

  • Water treatment and technology providers

Organisations that design, develop or implement water treatment, recovery and reuse technologies. Tell us how the method can fit current and emerging technologies.

  • Government agencies and regulators

National, regional and local bodies that set water policy, regulations and standards. Give feedback on how the method supports existing rules and reuse guidelines, and use the web app to screen options.

  • Industry associations and standards bodies

Organisations that set benchmarks, best practices and certifications for water management. Help us align the method with industry standards.

  • Academic and research institutions

Researchers in water sustainability, environmental science and related fields. Apply the method, contribute to its development and join our workshops and conferences.

  • Environmental NGOs

Organisations working on water conservation, environmental protection and sustainable water management. Discuss how the method can support environmental goals and advocacy.

  • Funding bodies and donors

Agencies, foundations and programmes that support water sustainability projects. See what the method delivers and explore how it can be scaled to other regions.

  • Citizens and local communities

People who live near, work with or use reclaimed water. Take part in information sessions and local events, and learn what a water reuse scheme means for your community.

How to get involved

  1. Propose a study case

Do you manage or know of a water reuse scheme, in the urban, industrial or agricultural sector? We are looking for additional cases to apply the full AWARE method. Introductory webinars start in late 2026.

    Propose a study case
  2. Give feedback on the method

Join our local workshops and online webinars. We will present the preliminary method in spring 2027 and the refined version in mid-2028, and we will use your feedback to improve it.

    Give feedback
  3. Test the AWARE web app

A simplified online version of the method for preliminary screening of water reuse options, designed for non-experts. The beta version will open for testing in early 2028.

    Test the web app

What to expect
