Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
The environmental impacts of a water reuse scheme across its whole life cycle, from construction to operation and end of life.
Water4All · Water for Circular Economy
Water scarcity could cause up to a 40% supply shortfall by 2030. AWARE builds the method to measure — and prove — which water reuse solutions actually work.
AWARE develops a standardized Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) method, specifically tailored for Water Resource Recovery and Reuse (WRR&R) initiatives. By combining environmental (LCA), economic (LCC), and social (S-LCA) analysis, the project equips decision-makers with reliable, comparable results to support sustainable water circular economy solutions across urban, industrial, and agricultural sectors.
The environmental impacts of a water reuse scheme across its whole life cycle, from construction to operation and end of life.
All the costs of the scheme over its life span — investment, operation, maintenance and end of life — on the same basis as the LCA.
The effects on the people touched by the scheme: workers, local communities, users and society at large.
* Within two years of the end of the project.
Urban, industrial and agricultural water reuse in five countries, with additional cases identified through stakeholder engagement.
Urban and agricultural reuse (tourism area)
Urban non-potable reuse
Reclaimed water for industry
Industrial reuse (textiles)
Urban greywater reuse (urban agriculture)
