Infrastructure (Capital Goods)

Long-lived assets used to deliver a product rather than consumed by it: buildings, tanks, pipes, pumps, membranes. Many LCAs leave them out on the grounds that their impact, spread over decades of output, is small. For water reuse that is not always true — the construction of a distribution network or a membrane plant can be a significant share of the total, so AWARE’s rules address it explicitly.
