Normalisation and Weighting

Optional steps after characterisation. Normalisation expresses each indicator relative to a reference — such as the average annual impact of one person — to show which results are large in context. Weighting multiplies them by value-based factors so they can be summed into a single score. ISO 14044 does not allow weighting to be used in comparative claims disclosed to the public, because weights reflect values rather than science.
