Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA)

A method for assessing the social and socio-economic effects of a product or system on the people touched by its life cycle: workers, local communities, consumers, value chain actors, society at large and children. It is guided by the UNEP Guidelines for Social Life Cycle Assessment of Products and Organizations (2020) and by ISO 14075. Much of its data is qualitative and comes from interviews and surveys with stakeholders, which is why AWARE’s study cases involve direct contact with plant managers, users and authorities.
