System Boundary

The line that decides which processes are included in a study and which are left out. For water reuse, typical boundary questions are whether to include the sewer network, the treatment of sludge, the distribution of reclaimed water, and the freshwater abstraction the reuse avoids. Inconsistent boundaries are one of the main reasons published LCAs of the same technology disagree.
