Water Circular Economy (WCE)

The application of circular economy principles to the water cycle, so that used water is treated as a resource — for reuse, energy and nutrient recovery — rather than as waste to be discharged. The water sector is considered one of the largest untapped areas for the circular economy. Circularity alone does not guarantee lower impacts, which is why AWARE assesses it across the whole life cycle.
